ookk The cost of ignorance - FIVESIXTEEN PROJECT

Would you believe?

Global poverty is on the decline, but almost no one believes it. According to a Press Release, September 19, 2018 from World Bank, “poverty continues to decline but has slowed raising concerns of ending poverty by 2030.” More than 8 in 10 Americans are unaware global poverty has reduced so drastically. More than two-thirds believed global poverty was on the rise over the past three decades.

Maybe that’s why over half of U.S. adults do not believe it is possible to end global poverty in the next 15-20 years and American’s concern over this issue has declined from 21% in 2011, to 8.6% in 2021.

WORLD BANK, SEPTEMBER 19-TH 2018

World Bank President Jim Young Kim states, “…if we are to end poverty by 2030, we need more investment in human capital economics and management…”

Globally, people may be eating better, but it’s estimated that by 2030 over two million people will call this home (above picture ‘tent city’). The earth’s natural resources, are not enough.

Something needs to change!
